Suburban Community Hospital’s Diagnostic Cardiac Services Earns Echocardiography Reaccreditation by IAC

East Norriton, PA (February 16, 2022) — Suburban Community Hospital has received a three-year term of re-accreditation in the area of Echocardiography services by the Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC).

The IAC grants accreditation only to those facilities that are found to be providing quality patient care, in compliance with national standards through a comprehensive application process including detailed case study review.

“The re-accreditation of our echocardiography services is a ‘seal of approval’ that patients can rely on Suburban Community Hospital to provide the highest level of echocardiography care,” said Donna Nagle, Director of Radiology and Cardiology at Suburban Community Hospital. “We are pleased to offer the community advanced cardiology care.”

Echocardiography is used to assess different areas of the heart and can detect heart disease or signs of serious conditions. According to the American Heart Association (AHA), cardiovascular diseases are the number one cause of death in the U.S. On average, one American dies every 39 seconds of cardiovascular disease—disorders of the heart and blood vessels.

There are many factors that contribute to an accurate diagnosis based on echocardiography. The training and experience of the sonographer performing the procedure, the type of equipment used and the quality assessment metrics each facility is required to measure, all contribute to a positive patient outcome.

Nagle added, “Early detection of potential health conditions related to the heart and blood vessels is critical for our patients. Having the equipment, technology, and expertise to perform such vascular testing can literally be the difference between life and death for our patients. This accreditation solidifies the high level of care we offer in Montgomery County.”

These latest reaccreditations demonstrated Suburban Community Hospital’s ongoing commitment to providing quality patient care in echocardiography.
